John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of them located in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and later relocated to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver was by far one of the most popular artists who represented Colorado. Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. To many, Denver is the symbol of Colorado. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders. They tell them "I come Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" then they respond with Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after performing with small folk music bands. It was co-written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the track for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the song's potential when he first heard it. The singer recorded the song just a few days later when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
